Do yourself a favor and go look up pictures of Mont St. Michel — it is stunning. It was built in the 8th century on an island, so at high tide you have to drive over a bridge to access it because #protection. The whole rampart is a village and there are tiny houses and shops all along the way, and there is an abbey at the very top!
