We finished our trip up here at the Giraffe Manor in Nairobi, Kenya. I can’t really think of anything to say that will edify this post, simply because it was the most unreal experience and I don’t want to ruin the magic.
Oh but I do want to share a fun tidbit: when we were feeding the giraffes (as seen below) one giraffe lifted its leg and stumbled on the guard-rail separating the giraffes and humans. The towering 15-foot giraffe collapsed onto the ground and I have never moved faster in my life lol. I skedaddled right on out of there. I was like 20 feet away from the danger, but I realized in that moment that I would be useless if anything dangerous ever happened. Some introspection for you there. But anyway, the giraffe of course got up immediately, and terrifyingly fast, and galloped away back into the trees.
If anyone ever asks me what I regret most in my life, it would be that I failed to get a video of this majestic beast collapsing almost onto a crowd of people. Alas, alack.
