Three African Camps

Back to Africa! This is my second time visiting, and it never fails to amaze. We stayed in five camps and the famous Giraffe Manor in Nairobi. The five camps were: Kuyenda and Chamilandu in South Luangwa Natl Park, Zambia; Sand Rivers in Selous, Tanzania; Greystoke Mahale in Tanzania; and Cottar’s 1920’s Camp in Masai Mara, Kenya. They were all so unique and special.

During the days, we went on game drives in the bush to see all sorts of animals, from the common land mammals to strange birds. Go look up ‘lilac-breasted roller’ right now and you’ll see. We petted elephants in a mud bath, fed and kissed giraffes, swam in croc-infested waters, flew in numerous bush planes, hiked in the jungle to find chimps, saw our camp guide bond with a wild warthog, fly-camped in the middle of the bush, made eye contact with cheetahs and lions, danced with the Masai Mara African tribe, and peed so many times out in the bush that we must have contracted some sort of disease by the end. What a good trip.
